Liverpool name initial 33-man squad for Dubai training camp
Jurgen Klopp‘s Liverpool have announced a 33-member squad for a mid-season training camp in Dubai including players who are not a part of the World Cup in Qatar. The break gives the Reds an opportunity to get things going and recharge their batteries ahead of the season re-opener on 22nd December against Manchester City in the EFL Cup.
Liverpool will face Olympique Lyonnais and AC Milan in two matches in the Dubai Super Cup with those clubs announcing their squads soon. Six of seven Liverpool representatives are still in the World Cup, with only Darwin Nunez out of the competition early.
Nunez will join the camp next week as per the club’s official website and after his disappointing run in the World Cup, he would hope to come back stronger for club.
Diogo Jota, Naby Keita, Joel Matip and Arthur Melo are also part of the squad and will continue their rehab on the go. Additionally, Luis Diaz completed his rehab and will be gearing up to go all guns blazing as well.
Alongside first-team regulars, a number of academy stars and U23 players see themselves named in the squad as well. It gives the young guns a wonderful opportunity to gain experience with the senior team and also showcase their talent in front of the gaffer too.
Dubai Camp for the Reds
Mo Salah is, by and large, one of the biggest names on the squad and after a shaky start to his league campaign as well, he would hope to prove a point that he is still one of the best in the game.
The squad members involved in the World Cup will in all likelihood be given a sizeable break before they are brought back into action as fatigue could turn out to be a big issue.
The first team regulars included in the squad for the camp comprise of:
Adrian, Caoimhin Kelleher, Harvey Davies, Mohamed Salah, James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott, Kostas Tsimikas, Calvin Ramsay, Andy Robertson, Fabio Carvalho, Stefan Bajcetic, Nathaniel Phillips, Kaide Gordon, Naby Keita, Joel Matip, Joe Gomez, Diogo Jota, Arthur Melo, Luis Diaz, Thiago Alcantara and Roberto Firmino.

Fabian Mrozek, Marcelo Pitaluga, Luke Chambers, Jarell Quansah, Bobby Clark, Melkamu Frauendorf, Layton Stewart, Ben Doak, Jake Cain and Dominic Corness complete the rest of the squad and this lot will certainly value their time with the first-team a lot, and hopefully, prove a point or two to the gaffer.
