Barcelona eye Liverpool transfer target and Borussia Dortmund striker Youssoufa Moukoko
According to Diario Sport (h/t Liverpool Echo), FC Barcelona are showing interest to sign Borussia Dortmund’s Youssoufa Moukoko who is also on the radar of Liverpool FC. The Catalan giants have likely set their sights on the 18-year-old striker after their arch-rivals Real Madrid got another teenage sensation Endrick in their ranks.
The fact that Roberto Firmino runs out of contract next year [Transfermarkt], and a long-term replacement for him could be a requirement at some point in time might be one of the reasons why Liverpool might be looking at Moukoko as a viable option to replace the Brazilian in the long-run.
Moukoko has been in fine form for Dortmund this season, scoring six goals and getting five assists in 20 appearances across all competitions before the season took a halt for the World Cup in Qatar. The teenager represented Germany at the event, but Hansi Flick’s side faced elimination in the group stage for the second successive time.
Barca’s Memphis Depay also runs out of contract next year (Transfermarkt) and it could turn out to be an ideal situation for Xavi to replace the Dutchman with Moukoko, who is still coming of age, and would be great for building a team for the distant future.
Moukoko for the Reds
It is in no way wrong to secure the future, be it any club, but one would raise questions if Liverpool add another attacker to their armoury at this stage. Luis Diaz has not even completed a full season at Liverpool yet, and Darwin Nunez is still finding his feet.
The Reds, with all due respect, need to divert their attention toward the signing of a midfielder more than anything else as the problems in that aspect of the game have led the club to their turbulent start in the league this season.
Moukoko’s team-mate at Dortmund, Jude Bellingham is one of Liverpool’s top transfer targets in the upcoming summer, and that would arguably be the biggest established star signing Liverpool have made since signing Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich back in 2020.

Best believe Liverpool can do without the services of Moukoko, but adding depth never hurts. It, however, remains to be seen if Moukoko will be content with competition because he would have a lot of it on Merseyside.
