Liverpool ‘interested’ in French midfielder Adrien Rabiot

Among the thousands of midfielders linked with a Liverpool move includes a certain Frenchman Adrien Rabiot. The Juventus midfielder has been in good form for France in the World Cup alongside fellow central midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni who was a target for the Reds last summer.

90min via Liverpool Echo report that the agents and representatives of Rabiot have offered the services of the player to a number of Premier League clubs, including the Reds. The 27-year-old has been in good form for the last few seasons and could prove to be a good option in the squad.

Moreover, his contract runs out next summer per Transfermarkt and as a free agent, someone like Rabiot is an excellent option. However, the Reds’ immediate need for a midfielder will obviously come at a cost, and Juve consider a fee of around €10m-€15m for the Frenchman.

In a lacklustre season for Juventus, Rabiot stands shoulders above the rest of his teammates as a consistent performer in the middle of the park. The fact that the Italian outfit is going through somewhat of a financial crisis off the field could have prompted them to do with the sale of one of their consistently performing stars.

Rabiot in Red soon?

In 16 appearances for the club across all competitions this season, he has five goals and two assists. If not for his cold, one would have expected him to start against Morocco in the semi-finals of the World Cup as well, as Rabiot played every game until then for Didier Deschamp’s side.

He could prove to be a smart addition as a free agent given the Reds’ nature of being injury prone and in midfield especially this season, with multiple issues to Jordan Henderson, Thiago Alcantara plus the fact that Fabinho is not in top form is also not helping the Reds in any way.

However, the player’s antics off the field might be something the Reds need to vary of as the player is notoriously known for his controversies beyond his football career. But that should not be the core reason to not get him on board, as skill-wise, he can fit into the Reds’ squad.
