“Absolutely not the case”- Agent makes firm January claim on Arthur Melo’s Liverpool future

Arthur Melo’s agent talks about the Brazilian staying at Liverpool in January and beyond

One of Liverpool’s four summer signings, Arthur Melo is yet to feature for the Reds after a solitary 13-minute appearance against Napoli earlier this year. The player who joined the Reds on deadline day on loan from Juventus has been sitting out with injury and is working on getting back behind the scenes.

With a lot of speculation growing over his future with the club, and the possibility of him returning to Turin without having played properly for the Reds, his agent responded to all rumours and gave the assurance to TuttoMercatoWeb that he will complete his contract with Liverpool via Fabrizio Romano’s Twitter

.

“He’ll stay at Liverpool in January, 100%. It’s an aspect that has never been under discussion. A possible return to Turin is absolutely not the case.”

Moreover, he could return earlier than expected from his injury lay-off as reported by the Daily Mail giving the Reds a much-needed boost in their pursuit of a top-four finish this season.

The player joined the Reds without a proper pre-season at Juve and had to play catch-up before playing football. Hence, his debut for the Reds took its own time. And the fact that he got injured late in October also did not help Liverpool’s cause one bit.

Arthur Melo and Liverpool

Liverpool have the option of triggering the buy-clause in his loan deal for a sum of £32m but that is a conversation for the future which depends on how well Arthur fares for the Reds, in case he has the opportunity to feature in a spell of games in the first place.

Arthur’s return from injury could add some much-needed depth and quality to the Liverpool midfield, and his contributions could be crucial in helping the team achieve their goals for the rest of the season; finishing in the top four at the core of the short-term goals.

His return could also certainly be a significant boost for Liverpool as they look to finish the season strongly. His ability to control the midfield and dictate the tempo of the game can be a key factor in helping the team build attacks and maintain possession.

He has played a number of games for the U21 side already and would hope to make his mark for the first team sooner than later, and possibly extend his stay at the Reds as well.
