Transfer News: Liverpool urged to make a move for Valencia midfielder Yunus Musah
Former USMNT striker Eric Wynalda believes that signingf Valencia and USMNT midfielder Yunus Musah to Liverpool in January would be a ‘great move.’
The 20-year-old impressed quite a few clubs during the World Cup in Qatar as the youngster featured in all four games for his country, helping them reach the Round of 16 before they crashed out.
Liverpool along with rivals Chelsea have been credited with an interest in the midfielder and have now been urged to make a move for the youngster as Jurgen Klopp seeks to reinforce his midfielder ahead of the second half of the season.
Speaking to Vegas Insider Podcast (h/t Mirror), Wynalda believes that the 20-year-old is a ‘great’ young talent and that the Reds will benefit from a move.
“He’s getting a lot of attention from the EPL and it looks like Liverpool are interested from the sources I’ve spoken to. Keita came to Liverpool and is a similar profile to Musah. It didn’t quite work out for him and Klopp. Klopp is looking at Musah in the same light. He’s maybe a poor man’s Wijnaldum but Thiago isn’t getting any younger. Musah is a great young talent and I think Liverpool would be a great move.”
Naby Keita has struggled to cement his place in the team and has also failed to keep him fit for the majority of the season. Other midfielders too have a similar problem with many of them also hitting age past their prime.
Musah is just 20 and has a long and bright career ahead of him. A former Arsenal youth product, the USMNT international has featured in 11 league games for his side so far this season, registering two assists in the process.
With Klopp looking to add reinforcements, it would make sense to invest in the future too. Valencia are believed to listening to offers for the young midfielder and have set an asking price of around €20 million.
