“It was nice”- Liverpool given much-need Diogo Jota injury boost

Liverpool handed much-needed Diogo Jota injury boost

Speaking in an interview as quoted by Liverpool Echo, Pep Lijnders have confirmed that Portugal star Diogo Jota will be back in February as per schedule.

This is a huge boost for Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool considering how important Jota is to the German coach’s plans. His injury has affected us a lot and it’s great news that he will be back soon.

Jota’s injury meant that he also missed the World Cup in Qatar. Portugal could have definitely done with the presence of the Liverpool man in the tournament, especially in the game against Morocco.

The Portugal man’s injury is especially great news for the Reds in the wake of the injury setback that Luis Diaz suffered. The Columbian was expected to be back by now but his return is set to be postponed.

Jota was back with the squad in Dubai last week and is expected to return as per schedule with a return in February very much on the card. The Champions League clash against Real Madrid is touted as a possible target for his return.

Lijnder’s quotes on Jota will come as a welcome boost to Liverpool and here is what the assistant manager said.

“Jota is within the timeframe. He was with us in Dubai. It was nice for someone with a long-term injury to get out of the English weather. He was in all the video meetings and we had a lot of them”

Until Jota and Diaz return, it remains to be seen who Jurgen Klopp goes with for the left-wing position. He has quite a few options and there have been players like Fabio Carvalho who have really impressed.

Klopp has shown us this season that he is also not against experimenting with formation. He could choose to shift to some other formation until one of Jota or Diaz return to action, with the former being more likely to return first.

There is also always the option of reinforcing in the transfer window although it seems unlikely as Jota’s return is just around the corner. Let’s see what Liverpool do about it.
