Celtic’s 21-year-old Israeli winger Liel Abada revealed a few months ago that his aim is to play for Liverpool in the future. Back then, the player was just starting to make his name in the Scottish top tier.
Fast forward to the present day, the right-winger in 28 appearances across all competitions for the Scottish giants has 10 goals and five assists to his name this season. Slowly but surely, he is on his way to establishing himself as a force to reckon with for the future.
In 78 matches across all competitions for The Hoops, Abada has 24 goals and 15 assists to boot as well. According to Fabrizio Romano, there is a lot of interest brewing in the player from Premier League clubs, potentially Liverpool as well. But Celtic do not want to part ways with the player, who they believe is an extremely key player for their side.
The Reds have young guns in Harvey Elliott and Fabio Carvalho in their ranks who are younger than Abada and have been performing in the Premier League showing their class at a level arguably higher than that of the Scottish Premiership.
Harvey is slowly evolving into a proper player and is realising his potential which was on clear show during his loan spell at Blackburn Rovers. The same for Carvalho as well, but the only difference is Fabio is not used to playing on the wings as he is used to playing an advanced midfielder’s role.
Even though there is no denying the fact that Abada might be a total talent for the future, there is no absolute necessity for a player of that profile at the Reds, at least with Mohamed Salah at the helm for the foreseeable future.
Nevertheless, one would hope for the current lot of youngsters at Liverpool to carry on with the same consistency and beyond and produce results for the Reds in the coming days.
Currently, a Carabao Cup task against Manchester City awaits. Manager Jurgen Klopp has opted to rest a number of key names but has had to start Salah down the right flank and Fabio Carvalho down the left wing.

Of course, Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota’s injury returns in 2023 will bolster the depth down the wings while 17-year-old Ben Doak, who has been great whenever played, is an option to nurture in that position alongside Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who is finally fit.
