“Poor man’s Wijnaldum”: 20-year-old Valencia star told Liverpool ‘would be a great move’

Yunus Musah told Liverpool would be ‘great move’ for the Valencia midfielder

American international Yunus Musah was an integral part of the USMNT side in the World Cup earlier this month in their run-up until the Round of 16 in the World Cup. The central midfielder is one of the several names in conversations with regard to a move to Liverpool in the coming transfer window.

The 20-year-old is currently playing in the Spanish top tier for Valencia and has a long-term contract until the summer of 2026 (Transfermarkt). The Arsenal academy graduate is an ideal transfer target for the Reds as he is a player for the future, and at the same time has shown capabilities to play under pressure at the highest level.

In 16 appearances across all competitions for club and country this season, Musah has two assists to his name. And at a time when the Reds need a new player in their midfield as the current lot is getting too stagnant, Musah’s performances have been garnering attention across Europe’s elite teams.

Former USMNT star Eric Wynalda believes that Liverpool could be a good move for the youngster and here is what he said on the Vegas Insider Podcast:

“He’s getting a lot of attention from the EPL and it looks like Liverpool are interested from the sources I’ve spoken to. Keita came to Liverpool and is a similar profile to Musah.”

“It didn’t quite work out for him and Klopp. Klopp is looking at Musah in the same light. He’s maybe a poor man’s [Georginio] Wijnaldum, but Thiago isn’t getting any younger. Musah is a great young talent and I think Liverpool would be a great move.”

Musah at Liverpool?

The recruiters at Liverpool will be aware of the fact that any chance of signing Musah will not come cheap due to his long contract in Los Che. Having said that, there is a price for everything and if the Reds believe that there is an actual need for his services at the Reds, they should not think twice about coughing up big money.

The Reds are not on the same level as their rivals when it comes to being generous in the Transfer Market and are notoriously famous for their tight-pocketed behaviour when it comes to signing players.

Even though the owners are not struggling to make money through the Reds by any means, the fact that they are playing frugal when it comes to spending money on players is a frustrating aspect for fans.

More Liverpool News

The team through their social media channels would have understood the cry from the fans for a new midfielder and hopefully, they will give us a good festive present as they did back in 2017 when Liverpool announced the signing of Virgil van Dijk.
