Liverpool gaffer Jurgen Klopp talks about Jude Bellingham
Jude Bellingham remains Liverpool’s top transfer target for the summer. The 19-year-old Borussia Dortmund superstar recently returned from International Duties for England at the World Cup wherein he was one of the best players for The Three Lions in their run until the Quarter-Finals.
The former Birmingham City midfielder in 32 appearances across all competitions has 10 goals and five assists for both club and country this season. In 112 appearances for Die Schwarzbelgen in over two years with the Bundesliga outfit, Bellingham has 19 goals and 21 assists across various competitions.
To add to his never-ending links with the Reds, the way he celebrated with Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson his goal against Senegal in the Round of 16 fixture sent most Reds fans to La La Land and into the belief that Bellingham has one foot in Anfield already.
Speaking ahead of Liverpool’s Premier League game against Aston Villa, the Reds’ manager Jurgen Klopp was full of praise for Bellingham, and here is what he said via Liverpool Echo:
“I don’t like to talk about money when you talk about a player like him,”
“Everyone can see he is just exceptional.”
“If you mention to someone who has no clue about football or who knows about football and has not watched it for a while ‘how old do you think Jude Bellingham is?’, I don’t think anyone would get even close to his age. They would say 28 or 29 because he plays so mature.”
The gaffer is a fan of Bellingham!
The maturity Jude displays on the field is beyond his age and it certainly speaks levels of his ability. At merely 19 years of age, he was one of England’s best players in the World Cup and is extremely consistent even at the club level. And knowing his level of skill, the gaffer clearly wants to divert more attention towards that instead of the £131m price tag set on him by his club.
The way he has been performing makes it seem like he will be a perfect fit into the Reds’ system, and given his age as well, Liverpool would certainly benefit greatly by having a player of his profile on board.
We need long-term replacements for a number of players in the team, and a player like Jude, who has his best years ahead of him surely comes in that category. Hopefully, the recruiters at Liverpool know the seriousness and depth of the midfield issue at the club and get Bellingham on board as early as possible.
All things considered, Bellingham, along with a number of other Liverpool targets Enzo Fernandez are no more a want, but an absolute necessity at the club.
