“Teams to beat in England”- Rival boss backs Liverpool to rediscover his mojo

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag believes Liverpool will be back to their best

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag believes Liverpool will soon return to their usual selves. The Reds are going through a season of transition and are yet to showcase their best.

Following a 3-1 away loss to Brentford in the league, the Reds find themselves in sixth position on the points table. The performances in the games against the Bees and Leicester City before that were alarming, to say the least.

Early in the season, the Reds suffered defeat at the hands of their arch-rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford wherein Erik ten Hag’s men were excellent in keeping the Merseysiders at bay.

Speaking of the Reds, here is what he said about Liverpool bouncing back from their unusual campaign [via Liverpool Echo]:

“I also expect Liverpool to be right back – and I see them, together with City, as the two teams to beat in England. Also, Arsenal are having a super season and are already far ahead in the league.”

The only way for Liverpool now is up

Ever since the appointment of the Dutchman, the Red Devils have seen a resurgence of sorts. They are starting to look far more dangerous than they were under the likes of Ole Gunnar Solksjaer and Ralf Rangnick.

But as true Kopites, we could only hope for Ten Hag’s words to come true as the sixth position doesn’t do justice to the team and the manager. League standings aside, the immediate focus for the Reds should be to get the better of Julen Lopetegui’s Wolves in the FA Cup.

Moreover, the Merseysiders need to get on board a midfielder or two as soon as possible as the options we have apart from our starting trio are not good enough to start games once in a while, and the depth in that department is as slim as it could get. In general, the depth we have for a top European club is alarming and only the owners could do something about it.

Hopefully, Klopp can get the better of ten Hag at Anfield when the sides lock horns for the second time in the league this season and there is a resurgence of sorts in the team.
