West Ham United manager David Moyes dismisses January exit for Liverpool linked Declan Rice

West Ham United manager David Moyes, while speaking to Goal (h/t Liverpool Echo) has rubbished the suggestions of Declan Rice leaving the club in the January transfer window, with Liverpool one of the clubs linked.

Rice has become a household name for his impressive performances for West Ham as well as the England national team. He is certainly one of the major prospects who is looking for a move to a big club.

The midfielder’s contract runs till June 2024 (Transfermarkt), hence providing top clubs with a chance to entice the Hammers with a high-value bid in the summer transfer window.

West Ham’s form is miserable, with the club sitting 17th in the league and on equal points with 18th-placed Everton. There were suggestions of whether Rice will look for a way out in the January transfer window.

However, Moyes has called all such claims rubbish and confirmed that the midfielder will not leave the club in the January transfer window.

“The transfer bit, I’m sure you can put away because that won’t be happening in January, that’s for sure, and it never was.”

There is a sense of realisation amongst the West Ham board that the player will not be staying with them for a long time. Hopefully he chooses Anfield to be his next destination.

If not January, then there is a big probability in the summer transfer window that Rice looks for a move away and many top clubs would be interested in acquiring a player of his quality.

It would not be an easy race by any chance and therefore UEFA Champions League Qualification is a must this season to attract the top players.

If not, then there is a high chance that we would not be able to entice the player himself, much before initiating talks with the club regarding a move.
