Liverpool target Teum Koopmeiners makes ‘nice’ Reds’ admission amid links
Teum Koopmeiners is a long-standing Liverpool transfer target. Even before his move to Atalanta from Alkmaar back in 2021, the player saw himself on the Reds’ radar but a move didn’t go through at that point in time.
However, after recent reports re-linking the player with a move to Liverpool, Koopmeiners talked about how it is nice to stand linked with the club. Fabrizio Romano quoted the player via his Twitter account. He also added that he’s 100% focused on Atalanta.
The player stood involved in the World Cup with the Netherlands, forming a vital pivot alongside Frenkie de Jong and Marten de Roon. In the Serie A this season, Koopmeiners has five goals and two assists from 17 appearances.
Moreover, Romano’s tweet also stated that although Liverpool see themselves linked for the player, there is no official bid yet. Given how our midfield is currently playing, it will certainly not be a surprise if we actually bid for Koopmeiners. Or maybe not, as FSG are reluctant to invest money.
However, given Pep Lijnders’ increased role in recruitment, we could actually sign Koopmeiners as he fulfils two categories for our assistant coach. 1. Dutchman and 2. Top Quality Midfielder. The Reds recently got on board Cody Gakpo after the World Cup, and another Dutch player could be coming our way as well.
There is no point in going over why we need a new midfielder. Even Everton fans would know why the Reds need to reintegrate their midfield. It is tough to see no goal contributions from our present midfield, and that certainly needs to change if we need to sustain at the top.

During this transitional phase, it is crucial for Liverpool to bolster their roster by adding more players to their squad, particularly in the midfield. The current lack of depth in this area is a major concern and it is essential that we take steps to address this weakness by strengthening that specific segment of the team. Koopmeiners could certainly help us do that.
