Two promising academy stars Tyler Morton and Lewis Koumas sign contracts with Liverpool

Two promising academy stars – Tyler Morton and Lewis Koumas sign their respective contracts with Liverpool (Liverpool FC website and Liverpool Echo).

Morton, who is on loan at Blackburn Rovers for the course of this season, has signed a new long-term contract with the Reds. He made his senior debut against Arsenal in the Premier League in November 2021 and made his first league start away to Tottenham Hotspur in December.

The 20-year-old is a central midfielder by trade who can operate in defensive midfield. He is a quality player whose stock has risen during his time at Blackburn so far. The Reds academy star has made 28 appearances in all competitions for the Championship side, assisting two goals.

Another academy star Lewis Koumas, who is the son of former Tranmere Rovers and Welsh player Jason Koumas, has now signed his first professional contract with Liverpool.

Koumas is a central midfielder who can play as a striker and has had an excellent season for the Reds’ youth sides. In 14 appearances in all competitions, he has scored nine goals and provided three assists.

It is good to see bright young Liverpool stars getting the contracts they deserve. They are part of the future of the club. We have seen Morton playing for the senior team as well. He has shown promising signs and his tenure at Blackburn would serve as a good learning experience for future challenges.

Koumas, on the other hand, is only 17 now and is touted to have an excellent future. We wish him the best for what is to come.

Moving on, looking at the state of the senior team, we need to sign players (especially midfielders) in this window. If not, then finishing in the top four would be an arduous task in which we may fail.
