Liverpool target Sergej Milinkovic-Savic ‘put up for sale’ by SS Lazio
Amid calls for a midfield revamp at Liverpool, several midfielders saw themselves linked with a move to the club, and Lazio’s 27-year-old Serbian central midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic also was a part of the same.
His contract at I Biancocelesti lasts until the summer of 2024 (Transfermarkt) and amid growing tensions of renewal and the player not agreeing to a new deal, the club could do with a sale of the player.
Liverpool stand linked with the player, and as reported by Il Messagero, via Tutto Juve [h/t Liverpool Echo], Lazio could be willing to let the player go on an £8.8m fee loan, with the option of making the deal permanent for a fee of £35.3m in the summer.
Milinkovic-Savic has five goals and seven assists across all competitions this season in 22 appearances. He is a constant goal-threat and in addition, he is extremely rigid in defence as well, giving any team the option of playing him in either advanced roles or more defensive roles as and how the situation demands.
Milinkovic-Savic to the Reds?
Many top clubs around the world including Juventus, AC Milan, Manchester United and Chelsea also want the talented midfielder and that is something the Reds need to be wary of in their pursuit of the player, who is very much gettable due to his comparatively affordable price tag compared to other players Liverpool have on their radar.
It is an open secret that Liverpool is certainly looking to strengthen their midfield. The team is in need of fresh legs, and a player like the Serbian, who is entering the prime years of his career, would be a valuable addition to the team. Signing such a player would be a major acquisition for the club.
