Liverpool squad and injury update ahead of the visit to Brighton this weekend

Jurgen Klopp and Co. will travel to Sussex to face Roberto de Zerbi’s Brighton on 14th January. Liverpool will certainly face a tough side as the Seagulls have been mighty impressive in the league this season, and we would remember after that Leandro Trossard hat-trick at Anfield, no?

Thankfully for the Reds, the Belgian is presently nursing an injury and is a major doubt for the clash at the Amex. However, the Reds have their own injuries to deal with and that is a major setback for the Merseysiders. Moreover, inconsistent performances are another headache of their own.

The Chaos Connoisseur Darwin Nunez is also a major doubt for the game as per the Metro. The 23-year-old Uruguayan will be a huge miss for the Reds as his movement in front of goal often caused cracks in the defensive shapes of teams but the good news is he could be back for the next game against Wolves in the FA Cup Replay.

Roberto Firmino returned from injury but felt something again which will set him back once again. Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota are long-term absentees and will only return later next month and hopefully, Liverpool could play a game with all forwards available for a change.

Injury Update for the Reds

Cody Gakpo’s arrival this window somewhat balances things out, but since he is just a new acquisition, expecting him to go off the mark in the Premier League on his potential debut in the competition is a far stretch.

Jordan Henderson is back from a concussion issue and is in contention to face Brighton, and so is James Milner, who came off in the first half of the Carabao Cup game against Manchester City. Arthur Melo’s return is estimated to be sometime around the same time frame as Lucho and Diogo but nothing is certain with the Brazilian, who is here on loan from Juventus.

As far as the defenders are concerned, the only casualty is Virgil van Dijk, who is out for a month due to the knee issue he picked up against Brentford. Ibrahima Konate could deputize for the Dutchman alongside Joel Matip.

More Liverpool News:

Hopefully, we get a win against the Seagulls with an understaffed side, and there are no more additions to the injury list as the season is already so difficult to watch as a Liverpool fan and more injuries will make the case worse.
