Real Madrid confident of landing Liverpool transfer target Jude Bellingham
In what could prove to be a second successive blow in two days after the Brighton loss, Liverpool could lose their primary transfer target Jude Bellingham to Real Madrid. Los Blancos are ‘confident’ of getting their man on board and that could prove to be a major jolt to the Reds’ transfer plans for the summer.
The 19-year-old former Birmingham City midfielder is an ever-present on Liverpool’s transfer radar ever since his move to Borussia Dortmund back in 2020. The Englishman also had an extremely successful World Cup and that certainly helped in plummeting his price tag of £131m.
Spanish paper Marca [h/t Liverpool Echo] report that Carlo Ancelotti’s side is growing in confidence by the day in their pursuit of Bellingham. And the Reds are certainly doing nothing to help their own cause. Liverpool’s league standings make it almost perfect for Real Madrid to accelerate their interest in Bellingham.
Liverpool could lose Bellingham to Real Madrid
Honestly, it is so repetitive to go on about the same thing about Liverpool being linked with Jude but such is the need of the hour that without signing him or a player of his class, the Reds could stand with absolutely no chance to sustain themselves in the long-term.
As we saw in the last game against Brighton, it is of utmost importance to get on board a midfielder, or two, or even three probably to make sure that this period of transition goes smoothly for the Reds.
As the current midfield players age, it is important for the team to have young players ready to step up and take their place. New midfielders would not only provide cover for the current players, but they would also be the future of the team. And that is just a few of the reasons why we need to sign players of the same profile as Bellingham.
With James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain running out of contract next season, there will certainly be a scarcity of central midfielders at the club. Moreover, with the poor form of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho, the pressure on Thiago to carry the midfield is visibly getting too much to do for the Spaniard and he could certainly do with some help.
It is high time that the Reds think about their long-term future and get on board a midfielder or two. The pursuit of their favoured players will certainly not come cheap, and even the owners need to realise the same and put more money into the club to channel towards recruitment.

If Jude Bellingham somehow doesn’t join Liverpool, to sum it up in just a sentence, we are doomed. But jokes aside, it is extremely important to get him on board or else the future of the club looks bleak.
