Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Diogo Costa could be available for the FA Cup third-round replay against Liverpool

According to Birmingham Live (h/t Liverpool Echo), Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Julen Lopetegui has confirmed that forward Diego Costa will be available for the fixture against Liverpool in the FA Cup 3rd Round replay.

Liverpool and Wolves had a fiery encounter the last time both sides met and the Merseyside club could have been out of the tournament already, had it not been for a disallowed goal by Toti Gomes in the end stages of the game.

Now, the two teams face again on Tuesday night and Lopetegui has confirmed that Diogo Costa could potentially be available for selection in the game.

Diego Costa suffered an injury against Aston Villa. He is better and I think he is going to be ready – I hope – for the next match. We will see.”

The former Chelsea man could come back to haunt Liverpool in the FA Cup tie

Liverpool are in dire need of a good performance after an abysmal display against Brighton & Hove Albion who defeated us 3-0 in the league. This comes a week after the defeat against Brentford and sees us currently in tenth position in the league.

It is a stark contrast to the start of the year where we were competing for an unprecedented quadruple but such has been the lows of the season already that finishing in the top four feels like a distant dream now.

The Fa Cup actually provides us with probably the only opportunity to win silverware this season and as reigning holders of the trophy, it is imperative that we take the cup seriously.

Hence, Jurgen Klopp should not muster much with the lineup and hopefully field a strong lineup to prevent a repeat of the shenanigans of the last two weeks.

We desperately need a good performance to bring some sort of confidence back to the side and a win on Tuesday night can be a catalyst for better results ahead.
