Liverpool legend John Barnes believes the club’s supporters should not demand the club transfers

while speaking to BonusCodeBets (h/t Liverpool Echo) sent a blunt message to Liverpool fans that they have to be careful in demanding new signings for the club.

It is a known fact now that the current Liverpool midfield cannot press as it used to and there needs to be a change in the area for any chance of success.

Hence, a host of top midfielders have been linked with Liverpool with many touting the club to make a move for a major statement signing in the summer transfer window.

However, Barnes believes that although it would be good to have fresh legs in midfield the fans should not demand the club to make signings in the manner that they are doing hence facing the wrath of many Reds supporters.

“It’s not the fans’ money, fans can’t demand who Liverpool should sign, it’s up to Jurgen Klopp.

If Klopp wants to sign Enzo Fernandez or Jude Bellingham then fair enough. They would be two fantastic players for Liverpool, but fans demanding they sign them is crazy, especially while other clubs are interested in them.

If Klopp demands it, hopefully, we’ll be able to sign them. The Liverpool midfield is what needs to be improved.”

Although Barnes is correct that the end call for any signing should be with the manager however the fans do hold a say in what they think is best for the club. It’s certainly an odd comment in that regard.

Liverpool supporters have seen the good times as well as the bad times and therefore there is no reason that they are not allowed to speak their minds. Moreover, it has been evident that our problem lies in midfield and Enzo Fernandez and Jude Bellingham are two of the best young talents in that position.

The fans will be there irrespective of whether the players or manager stay and hence would only think what they feel is best for the club they support. Still, it is right to see the analysis of the Kop legend who admits that the club indeed need new signings in midfield and in particular, is a huge fan of Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice.
