Liverpool could yet exploit the loan market this January

Liverpool are exploring potential moves in the loan market that can help the club push their chances of a top-four finish in the league this season. The Merseysiders are ‘assessing the squads’ of European sides in an attempt to boost their midfield options with an interim transfer.

The Reds’ acquired the loan services of Arthur Melo from Juventus on the transfer deadline day of the summer. However, the Brazilian has had minimal playing time due to a previous injury sustained in October.

The signing of Arthur has not gone as planned, with the player being unable to get significant minutes due to a long-term injury. This has certainly highlighted the potential pitfalls of signing a player on loan, and it begs the question of whether this strategy will be effective in their pursuit of a top-four spot this season.

According to Daily Mail, Jurgen Klopp wishes to get a player for a six-month period to help out the Reds in their state of turmoil. We are 10 points away from fourth place and are visibly struggling in the ninth position in the Premier League.

Is a loan deal the solution to Liverpool’s problems?

Liverpool are gauging Atletico Madrid’s squad who already sent out Joao Felix on loan to Chelsea. Moreover, the Reds are also looking at Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus to see if any midfielder could make a temporary switch to Merseyside.

Furthermore, a loan signing can certainly provide a boost of energy and enthusiasm to the team. New players often bring a fresh perspective and a new approach to the game, which can rub off on their teammates and give the whole team a lift. This can be especially important during a difficult period, such as the one Liverpool is currently experiencing.

The midfield is where the problem lies, a loan signing of a midfield player could provide the team with more creativity and energy in the centre of the pitch but hopefully, we do not get on board an injury-prone player as we do not want the repetition of the Arthur scenario.

In conclusion, despite Liverpool’s current struggles, the club’s decision to sign a player on loan for the rest of the season could prove to be a wise move. It can address the team’s weaknesses, provide a boost of energy and enthusiasm, and create competition for places within the team. All of this certainly could help Liverpool get back on track and finish in a top-four spot.
