According to Fabrizio Romano (h/t Liverpool Echo) Arsenal submitted a £60m bid for Liverpool target Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo, which was rejected by the club.
It seems like Arsenal are keen to add firepower to their ranks in their bid to secure a league title after already securing Jakub Kiwior from Spezia and Leandro Trossard from Brighton.
Now, Arteta was seemingly ready to test Brighton’s resilience on one of their star players in Caicedo but with the refusal of the first bid (h/t Liverpool Echo
), it can be believed that the Seagulls are in no rush to sell the player. It could be comprehended from the past events that Brighton are pretty happy with their current set-up and comfortably sit in the top half of the table. They have also apparently placed a 100million Pound price tag on the Ecuador international.
Hence, when a club is bidding for an unprecedented finish in one of the UEFA European places, then the value of each player does really come into play.
This doesn’t rule out Arsenal making another bid but the chances of the player leaving Brighton in the winter transfer window look pretty bleak with the price tag that has been slapped on him.
This is good news for Liverpool, who could be provided with another opportunity to make a move for the player when his parent club will be more ready to do a deal. Caicedo is one of the rising top midfielders of the league and has the potential to be one of the very best, hence the huge interest in his signature.
With Liverpool keen to add a top midfielder in the summer, Caicedo could be one to watch out for if he does not secure a move in the current window. Alongside Jude Bellingham
