Injury setback for Liverpool as Fabio Carvalho out of Brighton FA Cup fixture

In another setback for Liverpool due to an injury situation, Fabio Carvalho sits out due to an issue for the Reds’ FA Cup Fourth Round fixture against Brighton at the Amex. The player’s last appearance for Liverpool came in the Third Round Replay in the same competition against Wolverhampton Wanderers. (h/t Liverpool Echo)

The player has struggled for game time this season post the World Cup and this injury is all the more unfortunate as he will sit out for a prolonged period of time. The 20-year-old attacking midfielder has three goals in 19 appearances this season across all competitions.

Even though starting the game against the Seagulls stood as probably an outside shot, he could have seen himself as a substitute. However, with the injury, that probability also dies down. Hopefully, the player is back to optimum fitness levels soon as he is a very promising player.

This FA Cup fixture would be the Reds’ second visit to the Amex in a span of 15 days. The last visit was certainly not memorable as Liverpool lost the game 3-0 to Roberto de Zerbi’s side. Jurgen Klopp will certainly demand a better performance against the same opponents from his players this time around.

Injury galore for the Reds

Apart from Carvalho, the absentees for Liverpool include Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota, Roberto Firmino, Arthur Melo and Virgil van Dijk. Not a bad five-a-side that eh? Darwin Nunez would hope to start the game as he saw himself on the bench against Chelsea last time around.

The Reds have recently suffered a string of losses and poor performances, which have led to a significant drop in morale among the players and fans alike. A win in this match would provide a much-needed boost to the team’s confidence and help them to regain their form.
