Liverpool target Moises Caicedo to miss FA Cup clash to force transfer

Liverpool target Moises Caicedo will not feature for Brighton against the Reds in the FA Cup

Moises Caicedo of Brighton and Hove Albion, who is a Liverpool transfer target, wants a move away from the Amex and will reportedly not feature for the Seagulls against Jurgen Klopp’s men this Sunday in the FA Cup Fourth Round Fixture. (The Athletic via Liverpool Echo)

The player was extremely adamant about giving his 100% for Brighton a few weeks ago, but a bid from a certain Premier League club might have changed his mind and hopefully, Liverpool do some voodoo to get their hands on the player as no team needs his services more than the Reds.

And citing his want to depart the club, Caicedo will reportedly not feature for the Albion this weekend against Liverpool in the FA Cup. A win-win situation for the Reds as without Caicedo, Brighton certainly would not be at their strongest.

No Caicedo for the Reds?

Now that Arsenal have their sights set, Liverpool need to look elsewhere to bolster their squad. Caicedo is unlikely to join the Reds at this point in time, but in football, nothing is certain. In any case, if this January window goes by and Liverpool do not sign any midfielders, the top-four push can get very tough for the Reds.

However, the report confidently talks about how Brighton expect the player to be around the South Coast for the second half of the season as well. It is on the club’s request that the player will step aside from training until the transfer window is over.

The Ecuadorian international joined Brighton from Independiente del Valle in February 2021 and is under contract at the club until 2025 (Transfermarkt). He has made 25 appearances for Brighton since his move.

But one thing is certain to conclude. In order to secure a top-four finish this season, Liverpool must bring in a midfielder to strengthen the team after a poor start to the season and they currently sit in ninth place on the league table.
