The agent of Roberto Firmino opens up on Liverpool contract negotiations

In what could stand interpreted as good news, Roberto Firmino and his talks with Liverpool for a new contract are “on the right track” as per the striker’s agent. Speaking to Sky Germany, Roger Wittman, who represents Bobby spoke in a manner which indicates that the striker could stay beyond his present deal.

His current deal with the club lasts until June later this year. The player, in 21 appearances across all competitions this season, has nine goals and four assists including a hat-trick against AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League. When available, he has undoubtedly been one of the best players for Jurgen Klopp this season.

The only problem with Firmino is the 31-year-old’s proneness to injury. Apart from that, the player stands very well-versed in the Jurgen Klopp style of play and is an integral part of his team.

But the player, due to a calf issue has been out of action since the season restarted in November. Klopp spoke about how Bobby was just two-three weeks away from team training last weekend and that could mean that the player is inching closer to a return sooner than later.

Firmino and the Reds

He could in all likelihood be the only player to get a contract extension at this point in time. The rest of the soon-to-be free agents include James Milner, Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Adrian and the talks for a new contract for either of them are presently not in the reckoning.

As a forward, he provides a goal threat more often than not and is always creating chances for his teammates. Bobby is known for his unselfish play and his ability to hold the ball up and bring others into the game, making him a valuable asset to the team.

Firmino’s work rate is also impressive, as he often tracks back and contributes to the defence, making him an all-around player that any manager would love to have in their team and that tracking back ability is something the Reds have lacked in his absence this season.

In conclusion, extending Roberto Firmino’s contract is a great move for Liverpool as he is a key player for the team. His versatility and work rate automatically make him a very valuable asset. He is in fact Klopp’s most used player in the team and long may it continue.
