Former Premier League star namedrops two superstars Liverpool should land in the summer

Danny Murphy urges Liverpool to sign Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice

Throughout the January transfer window, amidst the cries for a new midfielder, Liverpool opted to bring in Dutch forward Cody Gakpo. While the former PSV Eindhoven star adds depth in the attack, he doesnt make up for our lack of bite in the middle of the park.

This could only mean two things. One, Liverpool stand solely focused on the summer window where they intend to go all out on getting their primary transfer targets. Two, the owners, unperturbed by the situation, are directing the management to work with the resources at hand.

Hopefully, it is the first one. The Reds certainly need a midfield shuffle next summer as multiple contracts expire next summer. Regular starters like Fabinho and Jordan Henderson, as senior members of the club, fall far short of expectations in terms of performance, for those new to the situation at the club.

Amid calls for a reshuffle, Danny Murphy believes Liverpool need to sign at least two new midfielders this summer. He believes that Declan Rice and Jude Bellingham could stand as the right fit for the club at the moment, and here is what he said via Liverpool Echo:

“I’d go for Bellingham and Rice, I’d try and get them both. I think why not go hard or go home but on two big ones rather than four or five.”

“Rice and Bellingham walk into that Liverpool midfield.”

Rice and Bellingham to the Reds?

Nicol is absolutely bang on target. Darwin Nunez could learn a thing or two. But jokes aside, both Rice and Bellingham walk into the midfield. Both players stand proven at the highest level and are straight fits into the Liverpool squad.

These two young players have shown exceptional skill and potential, and they bring fresh energy to their respective clubs that could be exactly what Liverpool needs to get back on track.

Rice is an extremely versatile player who could play in multiple positions that would obviously provide the gaffer with a lot of options. Bellingham on the other hand, we have spoken about how he is just the right fit for Liverpool a lot of times in the past.

Moreover, at only 19 years of age, Jude is captaining the Borussia Dortmund team and is putting in those world-class performances week in and week out.

More Liverpool News:

Financially, this is very tough for Liverpool (at least under FSG) to pull off, and if they do so, the Reds have sorted themselves out for a substantial period in the future.
