Liverpool handed boost as Eder Militao might miss Champions League clash

Liverpool have been handed a boost ahead of their Champions League clash against Real Madrid, as Los Blancos star defender Eder Militao has suffered an injury.

The Brazilian centre-back is a crucial player for the Spanish side, and his absence will be a major blow to their defence. Karim Benzema also suffered an injury last night but Carlo Ancelotti confirmed that his knock was a light one.

He has been a dominant presence in the backline, making crucial interceptions and tackles that have kept opponents at bay. The 25-year-old has also been solid in aerial duels, adding an extra dimension to his defensive capabilities.

His injury, however, will not only affect Real Madrid’s defence but also their confidence ahead of the much-anticipated match against Liverpool. The two teams are no strangers to each other, having faced off in numerous high-pressure matches over the years.

Whilst it is not confirmed that Militao will miss the game against Liverpool, his injury is much more serious than what Benzema suffered. The Frenchman is likely to be fit for the game against the Reds.

Speaking about the injuries to the Mirror, Carlo Ancelotti did not give much away understandably and was very coy in his reply.

“Benzema is something very light, but Militao is not going to recover for Sunday.”

Liverpool have had a nightmarish season and the Champions League realistically remains as their only avenue to salvage this season. They will also be wanting to get revenge for last year’s final.

The absence of key players like Militao and David Alaba who is also injured are good things for Liverpool to build on ahead of the match. However, we also have enough injury concerns of our own.
