Wolverhampton Wanderers aim a subtle dig at Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp

Wolverhampton Wanderers via their Twitter account hit back at Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp with a cheeky reply following the German’s take on their third goal.

Only when it felt that things could not go any worse, Liverpool succumbed to a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Wolves in the Premier League. The defeat comes after the disappointing loss to Brighton & Hove Albion in the FA Cup and leaves us tenth in the league with a mammoth eleven points off the fourth position.

An own goal by Joel Matip set the store for things to come and it did not get any better. In fact, we can consider ourselves lucky the score was only 3-0.

Speaking post the defeat (h/t the Mirror), Klopp seemed rather disinterested in answering questions about the goals conceded. According to him, the third goal would not count for him as it came against the run of play.

“The third goal I don’t count because it was the first time they passed the halfway line in the second half. The other two goals, going into a game with all the things we said during the week and before the game then this start is horrible.”

Over the years we have seen Klopp give a variety of reasons behind the reasons for defeat but this does not take away from the fact that we were easily the worse side on the day.

Many were amused to see the manager giving out such a reply. The opposition, however, wanted to take it a step further and brutally mocked the comments made by Klopp with a subtle dig of removing the last goal from the scoreline.

As is evident from the action, the Wolves want to make full advantage of the victory secured and want to rub salt in the wounds by aiming the dig at the club.

For the first time in his career at Anfield, question marks are being over the German and his ability to lead the team in the future. While everyone can agree that Klopp is a world-class manager and if he decides to part ways with the club, there will no shortage of suitors.

But on the other hand, the fall of Liverpool is freakishly similar to his seventh season at Borussia Dortmund where he created a world-class team and in the end, all hell broke loose.

With 18 games still to go in the league and while a tie with UEFA Champions League holders Real Madrid awaiting us, Klopp has to figure out what has gone wrong and solve it immediately.

Our season is going down a spiral and it is time that Klopp and his players get a reality check and look for the faults that are causing issues rather than blaming the reasons behind a loss on other things.
