BBC pundit in shock thanks to three Liverpool stars who failed to turn up at Wolves

BBC pundit left shocked after the performance of three Liverpool players vs Wolves

Speaking to BBC Sport, quoted by Liverpool Echo, Football pundit Garth Crooks was left perplexed by the performance of three Liverpool players – Joe Gomez, Thiago Alcantara and Naby Keita in their recent defeat to Wolves.

Liverpool were smashed 3-0 by the west Midlands side, who could easily have scored two to three more goals in that game. The Reds were dismal at the back and had no control of the midfield throughout the contest.

The lack of communication and commitment to preventing the first two goals was shocking from Gomez, while Thiago allowed Neves to run through on goal for the third despite seeing him coming. For Keita, this was another game to show he is not good in a Liverpool shirt.

Here’s what Crooks said regarding the performance of some of the players (h/t Liverpool Echo):

“What on earth has happened to Joe Gomez, Thiago and Naby Keita?

“Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson’s recent lack of form is also most worrying, while forwards Darwin Nunez and Mo Salah hardly had a kick.”

It has been a frustratingly difficult period for Liverpool. They cannot put anything together and have now lost their fear factor too. Teams like Wolves, who are in a relegation battle, looked like a side who are streets of them.

It is nine goals conceded in the last three away league games, with only one scored in response. Jurgen Klopp’s men are yet to win a league game in 2023 and find themselves 11 points behind the top four places.

With so much uncertainty behind the scenes and the fact that the owners showed their true colours in January by not offering more funds to Klopp to buy a midfielder, this is going to be a difficult next four months for the club.

More Liverpool News:

Amidst all that, Klopp must stay. If this club is to rebuild in the next 6-12 months, the German has to be at the heart of it. Till then, we can only hope that he has one more magical streak in him to turn this rotten form around for the rest of this campaign.
