Fernando Torres chooses Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard over Frank Lampard
In the last 15 years, if there would be one Liverpool outgoing who would have hurt the fans the most, it is certainly Fernando Torres to Chelsea. The player, in 142 appearances for the Reds across all competitions scored 81 goals in addition to his 20 assists as well.
Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard and Torres had a magnificent partnership with 19 goals between them two. El Niño was a proper fan favourite, but his transfer to Stamford Bridge back in 2011 left a sour aftertaste for a large section of the Reds’ fans.

There has often been a huge debate over the better player between Gerrard and Lampard but Torres seems to have put his opinion in the public domain, and it is clear that he has not lost any love for his Liverpool captain.
Torres joined Liverpool in 2007 and played alongside Gerrard for three seasons. During this time, the Spanish striker formed a strong partnership with the Liverpool captain. Gerrard’s leadership and influence on the team were instrumental in their success, and Torres has stated that playing with Stevie was one of the highlights of his career.
This statement by Torres has sparked debate among football fans, as both Gerrard and Lampard stand considered legends in their respective clubs. While Lampard is Chelsea’s all-time leading scorer, Gerrard is Liverpool’s third-highest and both are two of the best midfielders of their generation.
