There are no new developments in the contract situation surrounding Liverpool target Jude Bellingham

As confirmed by Liverpool Echo, Borussia Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl has confirmed that there has been no progress made on Liverpool target Jude Bellingham’s current contract situation.

Bellingham has established himself as one of the hottest prospects in world football and with his exploits at the FIFA World Cup, it is speculated that the England-born midfielder would have his fair share of options if he chooses to leave Dortmund.

Dortmund, on the other hand, are persuading the player to stay for at least one more year at Signal Iduna Park and are ready to make him the highest-paid player in the club’s history.

However, as admitted by Kehl, there has not been much progress made on that front and the situation surrounding the midfielder is as uncertain as it was a few weeks back.

“There has been no new development. We’ll have to be patient for a little longer. But of course we’re trying to keep Jude Bellingham at Borussia Dortmund as long as possible because he’s an incredibly important player who has shown once again this season how he identifies with this club and makes the team better.”

Things develop due to market mechanisms. So of course I have my thoughts and also have my wishful thinking. I can’t say whether that will happen in the end.”

Dortmund always had a knack for producing top-quality young players and had been the biggest threat to FC Bayern Munich’s title ambitions for the longest time.

However, over the past few years, it has become more of a feeder club and a place for talented prospects to come at an early age and gather crucial game time before making a big move abroad or to Bayern.

Bellingham is speculated to follow a similar route as done by Erling Haaland and Jadon Sancho in the past but it does feel like Dortmund are trying their level best to retain the services of the player for some more time.

Bellingham is indeed a generational talent and could solve the puzzle of many club’s struggles by being the centrepiece and the club building a team around him. Liverpool are heavily interested in the player and have touted him as a primary target for the summer transfer window.

However, it would not be easy to prise him away from Dortmund firstly due to the parent club’s reluctance and secondly, even if they agree to sell him, the fee that potentially would be demanded by the club would eclipse the recent transfer of Enzo Fernandez to Chelsea.

Currently, the only good thing that can be done Klopp would be to make sure that we get the UEFA Champions League as a lack of it can provide further deterrence in the deal.

Hopefully, the win over Everton yesterday provides a spark amongst the squad members and acts as a catalyst for good momentum ahead.
