Liverpool eye a free transfer for Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot
Liverpool have reportedly set their sights on Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot. The 27-year-old French midfielder is in the final year of his contract with the Italian giants and is available on a free transfer next summer.
This presents a great opportunity for the Reds, who are obviously looking to strengthen their midfield options and add depth to their squad.
Liverpool has been on the lookout for midfield reinforcements for a long time now. While the Reds have some fantastic midfielders in their squad, such as Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, and Thiago Alcantara, they have struggled with injuries and a lack of depth in this position.
Moreover, this season has been disappointing for these midfielders due to their inconsistent performances which have left the Reds struggling to gain momentum this season, and even Jurgen Klopp could benefit from a shuffle in the midfield department.
Gazzetta dello Sport via Sport Witness (h/t Liverpool Echo) suggests that the Reds are exploring the possibility of signing Rabiot at the end of this season. The player’s arrival could provide the squad with some much-needed strength in depth and certainly, give Klopp more options to rotate his midfielders and keep them fresh throughout the season.
Could Rabiot move to the Reds?
However, there are certain downsides to getting him on board as well. He is a player who is not far from controversy and that is something that Liverpool can totally avoid. Jurgen Klopp’s team has its foundations laid deep into a strong sense of team bonding.
After receiving a points deduction that caused their season to become difficult, there are suggestions that if they fail to secure a spot in Europe, Maximiliano Allegri’s Juventus will have a very slim chance of keeping the 27-year-old player beyond this season.

Even though he could prove to be a good addition to the Reds, there is certainly no need to add a player who could attract a player with so much controversy. We have other young players on our radar and they could get them on board instead.
