Liverpool midfielder Stefan Bajcetic could make the senior Spain squad
Diario AS via Liverpool Echo has reported that Luis de la Fuente, the manager of the Spanish national team, is potentially considering calling Liverpool star Stefan Bajcetic up to the senior Spain side. The 18-year-old midfielder has been in great form for Liverpool this season and has significantly impacted the team since his debut in August 2023.
Throughout this season, Stefan has certainly been one of Liverpool’s most impressive and consistent performers, invariably demonstrating exceptional skills and abilities on the field. His technical knowledge and creativity have been exceptional, and he has shown an incredible level of maturity for his age.
It is great to see Stefan stand considered for the Spain senior squad. The player has already featured thrice for the U18 Spain squad and the only way for Bajcetic is up given he consistently performs on these same levels.
Bajcetic scored his debut goal in Liverpool’s win against Aston Villa. Since then, he has continued to impress, especially during the Merseyside Derby at Anfield, where he secured the Man of the Match award.
Stefan to Spain
He has the potential to be a key player in the Spanish midfield, and his talents would undoubtedly be a great asset to the national team. Spain has a rich history of producing top-quality midfielders (like Xabi Alonso and Thiago Alcantara), and Bajcetic would be following in the footsteps of some of the greats.
While Bajcetic could also play for the Serbian National Team, it is understandable why Spain would hope to secure his services. His skill and creativity would undoubtedly make a significant contribution to the team’s success. It would also be a great opportunity for Bajcetic to continue developing his skills and playing at the highest level.

A potential midfield trio of Pedri, Gavi and Stefan just sounds too good to be true. Hopefully, Bajcetic is not overwhelmed by the attention he is getting in recent weeks and continues to perform at the top level for as long as possible.
