Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk talks about his return from injury
Liverpool FC’s megastar centre-back, Virgil van Dijk, recently made his return from injury after missing a month of action. The injury occurred in a match against Brentford in January 2023 and kept him out of action until the Newcastle game in February.
Despite not being in top form this season, Van Dijk’s return has been a massive boost for Liverpool. His presence alone brings a sense of security and confidence to the backline, which we did not have during his time on the sidelines as the Reds conceded 13 goals in that time including a 3-0 loss to Brighton.
His leadership qualities, excellent reading of the game, and aerial prowess make him one of the best defenders in the world, and his return is a significant asset for the club. However, his return has come at a crucial time, as Liverpool seeks to secure a top-four finish and challenge for the UCL in the coming months.
Big Virg spoke about his return to the team and here is what he had to say about the same via the club’s official website:
“It feels very good. Being healthy is the most important thing in the world. It was a tough six weeks but I’m back, obviously I will do everything in my power to recover and be ready for the Champions League game, it is massive for us.
“It’s a lot of hard work behind the scenes but I’m happy to be back and contributing to a very good win. Now it’s time to make the rest of the season as good as possible and do it all together.”
Virgil for the Reds
Van Dijk’s presence on the pitch has always been a major asset for Liverpool. His commanding presence, aerial prowess, and game presence make him a solid and formidable defender. Even though he may not be in top form just yet, his return to the backline has instilled a renewed sense of confidence in the team.
It is extremely good news that the player returns to the setup before the Real Madrid game as that is extremely important and winning a game against an opposition of their quality will certainly increase the confidence within the dressing room.
Moreover, the team would hope to build on the two successive league victories against not-so-easy opponents and keep the momentum throughout the rest of the campaign as well. Virgil will be extremely crucial in that regard.
