Liverpool owner confirms that funds are available for Jurgen Klopp in the summer
According to The Times, Liverpool owner John W Henry has confirmed that the club is not for sale and there will be funds available for Jurgen Klopp to spend in the summer.
After a quiet last two transfer windows where the team’s midfield issues weren’t resolved in the market, it seems as if the owners are willing to make some cash available for Klopp and his staff to make definite changes to the squad in the coming summer transfer window.
It is good to get some clarity from Henry with respect to the ownership of the club. At least the club knows who its owners are and how things will play out in the future.
Here’s what Henry said when confirming that Liverpool is not up for sale (h/t The Times):
“Will we be in England for ever? No. Are we selling LFC? No. Are talking with investors about LFC? Yes. Will something happen there? I believe so, but it won’t be a sale. Have we sold anything in the past 20-plus years?”
Looking at Newcastle United with their Saudi owners, Manchester City with their never-ending Abu Dhabi money and potentially Manchester United with new owners in the summer, Liverpool and Klopp know progress cannot be made unless a good amount of money is spent in the transfer market.
Amidst all the departments that need improving, the midfield is the important one. As it stands, the Reds need at least three new midfielders in the summer to have a better structure for the team next season. Jude Bellingham is continuously being linked, while Mason Mount and Matheus Nunes are in the rumour mill too.
The club are looking at the possibility to sell Joel Matip in the summer, while it won’t be a surprise if Nat Phillips leaves too. Hence, signing a young centre-back would be at the centre of the agenda as well.
The forward line is one department where Liverpool have spent in the last three transfer windows. So, they wouldn’t need to do much there for the next 12 months.

We can only hope that Henry is true to his words and provide the necessary financial backing to Klopp. The German deserves that after doing all the work seemingly with a hand tied behind his back.
