Turkish club ‘working hard’ to sign Liverpool star set to become free agent this summer

Galatasaray ‘working hard’ on deal for Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino

Turkish giants Galatasaray are ‘working hard’ on putting a deal together for the signing of Liverpool star Roberto Firmino, according to Fanatik (h/t Liverpool Echo).

In the coming days, officials from the Super Lig outfit will travel to England to enter discussions with the Brazil international. The 31-year-old’s current contract at the Red expires at the end of the season and he is set to leave the club.

The Istanbul-based club are hoping to use their connections with Liverpool goalkeeping coach Claudio Taffarel and ‘persuade’ Firmino to sign for them. The retired shot-stopper spent three years at the Nef Stadium side.

Taffarel is being used to support Galatasaray’s operation for the 31-year-old. However, it remains to be seen whether the Turkish giants will be able to tempt him.

The Brazil international signed for Liverpool in the summer of 2015 from Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim. After leading the line for a couple of seasons, the arrival of Mohamed Salah in 2017 brought the best out of the centre-forward.

Firmino was responsible for the flair and hard work up top. The Brazilian’s skill set complemented Sadio Mane and the Egypt international’s ruthlessness and pace in the attack.

With the 31-year-old playing a pivotal role under Klopp, we went on to lift the Premier League and Champions League titles. In the previous campaign, the Anfield side also lifted the two domestic cups.

Frimino has been important for us this season. Liverpool have regressed in the current campaign, but the Brazilian has still put in some impressive displays. However, his game time has been limited due to the options the Res have up front.

Klopp can call upon the likes of Darwin Nunez, Cody Gakpo, Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota. Therefore, we evidently have enough depth in the attack. However, it will be sad to see another one of the Merseyside outfit’s famous forward trio depart.
