Moise Caicedo signs new Brighton & Hove Albion contract amidst Liverpool links
Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo has signed a new contract with the Seagulls amidst interest from Liverpool, according to OfficialBHAFC on Twitter (h/t Liverpool Echo).
The Ecuador international has committed his long-term future to the East Sussex-based club, having put pen to paper on a deal until the summer of 2027. The Amex Stadium side also have the option to extend it by a further year.
In the previous transfer window, the 21-year-old wanted to leave Brighton and released a statement confirming his intentions. Premier League table-toppers Arsenal were associated with the youngster’s signature.
However, in the end, a move failed to materialise. The Red are also one of the clubs mentioned as a destination for Caicedo. Jurgen Klopp’s team are expected to make additions to the middle of the park next summer.
The 21-year-old was signed by the Seagulls in the winter window of 2021. Subsequently, he spent half of the 2021/22 season on loan at Belgian outfit Beerschot before returning to East Sussex.
Graham Potter gave the midfielder an opportunity in the Amex Stadium side’s first team and he took it with both hands. Since then, the Ecuador international has been ever-present in their starting lineup.
In the current campaign, Caicedo has maintained his influence under Roberto De Zerbi. In 25 appearances in all competitions for Brighton, he has found the back of the net once and has provided one assist.
This season, Liverpool have struggled to maintain their standards from previous years. The engine room has looked lethargic and has been overrun on multiple occasions. Fabinho has not looked like his former self.

Also, other options like Jordan Henderson, Thiago Alcantara and James Milner are ageing and have been injury prone. Therefore, the Reds require fresh blood in the midfield. However, it remains to be seen whether the Ecuador international will leave the Seagulls next summer after tying down his future.
