Liverpool set to fight Manchester United for New England Revolution goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic
In the midst of a showdown game between Liverpool and Manchester United, according to Liverpool Echo, both teams are set to fight for New England Revolution goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic.
Petrovic has been earning rave reviews for his performances in Major League Soccer and could be set for a move to England in the coming transfer window. Lately, there has been a transition of players from the United States of America to ply their trade in England and Petrovic could follow Arsenal’s Matt Ryan in making that switch.
Petrovic impressed many with his performances for Serbia at the FIFA World Cup 2022 and at 23 years of age, still has a lot of time on his side to develop his game further and reach top-class status.
Being watched by top managers in Jurgen Klopp and Erik ten Hag certainly speaks about the pedigree that the player possesses with Liverpool Echo confirming the interest.
“United and Liverpool have been monitoring his form and they are set to continue having him watched through the Major League Soccer season ahead of a potential summer move. The keeper moved to the United States from Cukaricki in his homeland.”
Clearly, the player does not have the required experience to start games straightaway in the Premier League if a move indeed does materialise.
However, the future of Caoimhin Kelleher is uncertain with the second-choice keeper likely to reconsider his future at the club this summer.
Third-choice keeper Adrian is out of contract at the end of the current season (Transfermarkt) and it is highly unlikely that the club would be giving a contract extension.

Hence, we could potentially start the season with only Alisson behind the sticks and therefore do need an able second fiddle who could potentially hold the capacity to replace the Brazilian in the future.
This is one rumour which would be worth keeping an eye for and most probably could start generating more interest once the summer transfer window is nearby.
