Mohamed Salah breaks prestigious Liverpool goals record in 7-0 win vs Manchester United

Mohamed Salah is Liverpool FC’s highest-scoring player in the Premier League

On the evening of 6th March 2023, Anfield witnessed history as Mohamed Salah became Liverpool FC’s all-time leading scorer in the Premier League, surpassing Robbie Fowler’s record of 128 goals. The Egyptian forward achieved the feat in style, scoring two goals in Liverpool’s resounding 7-0 victory over their arch-rivals, Manchester United.

Salah had been in sensational form leading up to the fixture against United, having three goal contributions in his previous four league matches. Liverpool had been struggling to find consistency in the league, but the team’s talisman had been the one shining light amidst the gloom.

With the game against United being a crucial one in the context of the season, Salah obviously knew he had to step up and deliver the goods. The match got off to a decent start, with Liverpool scoring their first via Cody Gakpo just a few minutes before half-time.

The Egyptian loves playing against United, scoring 12 goals in his last 12 games in this fixture, with nine of those coming in the previous four matches alone. The Anfield faithful erupted in celebration as Salah broke Fowler’s record to become Liverpool’s all-time leading scorer in the Premier League. He also took a yellow card for his shirt-removing celebration.

The Egyptian King

Salah’s achievement was the result of sheer hard work and dedication. Since joining Liverpool from AS Roma in 2017, he has been a revelation for the club, scoring goals for fun and helping the team win several titles. He had already won the Premier League Golden Boot thrice, in the 2017-18, 2018-19 and 2021-22 seasons.

Mo continued to torment the opposition’s defence with his pace and trickery. especially Lisandro Martinez. Salah’s record-breaking feat was a momentous occasion for Liverpool Football Club and its fans. He has cemented his place in the club’s history books and has become a legend in his own right.

With his incredible talent and unwavering determination, there is no doubt that Salah will continue to inspire and delight Liverpool fans for years to come.

However, nobody would know better than Mo that the job is not yet done and the Reds need to push furthermore to secure a top-four finish. But adding to that, nobody can take the joy away from Liverpool fans after getting the better of their arch-rivals, and in such thumping fashion.
