Liverpool want to be kept informed about the situation of Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot

According to 90min (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool have asked to be kept informed about the contract situation of Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot.

The French international, whose current deal with the Serie A giants expires in the summer (Transfermarkt), is yet to sign a new contract. Mirror reported him saying that he wants to play Champions League football, and that’s how the decision of his future will be made.

Along with Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in the former Paris-Saint Germain midfielder. United agreed on terms to sign him in August, but the move fell out.

Rabiot was one of the stars for France in their run to the World Cup final. The 27-year-old has been in decent form for Juventus as well, with seven goals and two assists in 29 appearances from midfield.

The Frenchman is a ball-controlling central midfielder who likes to make forward runs with or without the ball and dictate the tempo of the game. He does exhibit intense running in the centre of the park, something a Jurgen Klopp midfielder must do to close down opponents.

So, while Liverpool could do with a midfield reshuffle in the coming summer window, they can look past Rabiot. He is a very good player, but may not suit Klopp’s system at all.

We know the Reds are primarily linked with Jude Bellingham, while there is a high chance of signing Mason Mount and Matheus Nunes as well.

Along with that, we are seeing the development of Harvey Elliott and Stefan Bajcetic coming along nicely. With one full season under their belt, they can challenge for regular minutes next season.

Hence, these two, along with potentially three new midfielders and a couple of senior ones (such as Fabinho, Jordan Henderson and Thiago Alcantara) will form an excellent midfield team.
