“Very special guy”- Liverpool hoping club legend makes a 180 degree flip on his future at the club

Fabinho says it is not too late for Roberto Firmino to change his mind and stay at Liverpool

Speaking to ESPN Brasil (h/t Express), Liverpool midfielder Fabinho said that it is not late for Roberto Firmino to change his mind and stay at the club.

Last week, it was revealed that Firmino has decided to leave Liverpool once his contract ends in the coming summer. He came on against Manchester United and scored the seventh goal, leading to mad celebrations from him and his teammates.

Since arriving at the club in 2015, the 31-year-old has been a fantastic servant and a real manager’s delight.

Here’s what Fabinho said when asked about Firmino and his future (h/t Express):

“So he’s a guy who for me should stay at Liverpool forever, who was very important since my arrival. And I don’t want to talk too much about the future, let’s enjoy these last few months that we have of him here.

“I don’t know if the situation can still change, but we joke with him a little. But let’s enjoy it while we have this player with us because he is a very special guy.”

Everyone involved with Liverpool would say similar things about the Brazilian superstar. He is probably one of the favourite players of Jurgen Klopp. The German has expressed that many times in the last few years.

We do not expect any change of mind from Firmino though. After eight exceptional years, it is perhaps the right time to part ways. At 31, he can look for a different challenge, while Liverpool have found a younger replacement in the shape of Cody Gakpo.

The word legend is used quite loosely in the modern age. But, the one player who deserves to be called that by Liverpool fans is Roberto Firmino. He was the pillar of the famous front three involving Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane that tore defences apart all around England and Europe.

More Liverpool News:

In the remaining weeks of the season, he is expected to have a deservingly raucous farewell from everyone at the club, including the fans. His song is probably one of the best any fanbase can come up with. We wish him the best wherever he goes next!
