Liverpool target Marcelo Brozovic decides to leave Inter Milan this summer
Marcelo Brozovic, who has been a target for Liverpool in the recent past, has decided to leave Serie A against Inter Milan at the end of the season, according to Spanish outlet Sport (h/t Express).
In 2020, the Reds pursued the Croatia international’s signature. The Merseysiders held discussions with his agents and were ready to match the midfielder’s release clause. However, he ended up staying in Italy.
The 30-year-old’s current contract with the Nerazzurri will expire in the summer of 2026. However, he has already ‘made a decision’ to part ways with the Serie A giants and experience a new challenge elsewhere.
At the moment, a number of top clubs are eyeing Brozovic. In the Premier League, Chelsea are monitoring the midfielder’s situation at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza side. Spanish giants Atletico Madrid also have him on their radar.
Last month, Calcio Mercato (h/t Liverpool Echo) linked him with a move to Liverpool. The Croatian made his way to Inter in the winter window of 2015. Since then, the 30-year-old has been a key player for the Nerazzurri. He has been a regular starting member for the Serie A giants over the years.
In the 2020/21 campaign under now Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte, the Italian outfit went on to win the Scudetto after over a decade. Brozovic was pivotal to that success.
The Croatian has also shown quality for his national side. He started almost every match in the 2022 World Cup as the Vatreni finished third after losing to Argentina in the semi-finals.
Liverpool’s midfield has mostly struggled in the current campaign. The likes of Jordan Henderson, Fabinho and Thiago Alcantara, amongst others, have been underwhelming. James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita’s contracts are also set to expire at the end of the campaign.

Therefore, we evidently need to add reinforcements in the middle of the park next summer. However, whether the Reds will reignite their interest in Brozovic remains to be seen.
