Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp provides an injury update on the squad
Speaking ahead of the league fixture against AFC Bournemouth, Liverpool gaffer Jurgen Klopp gave an injury update on the squad and talked about how the set of unavailable players could return to action sooner than later.
“All three not available [this weekend]. Different stages, I would say. Joey might be able to train at the beginning of the week; Luis I hope during next week. After the international break, then obviously for both [it’s] possible.
“Thiago we will see. None of them trained yet with the team and then we will see how that develops in the next couple of weeks and we will know more. Apart from that, from the last game nothing [new] that I heard about.”
Thiago Alcantara, Luis Diaz and Joe Gomez, all stand ruled out against The Cherries in Dorset. The Spaniard suffered a hip-flexor injury early in February and has missed out on all games since.
Speaking of Lucho, a knee injury has kept him out of action since our league game against Arsenal in the early weeks of October. Hopefully, the player returns to team training soon as he brings a totally different dynamic to our game in comparison to the other attackers.
Positive News for the Reds
Gomez’s last game was the 2-5 loss to Real Madrid at home wherein the player was definitely not among our best players and visibly struggled against the opponents. He came off in the 73rd minute following a hamstring issue.
One positive the Reds can take from this is the fact that there are no additions to the list of injured players at the club. Hopefully, by next week, the trio is back in training, and we could have an almost full-strength squad to choose from.
The trip to Bournemouth is followed by Real Madrid and Manchester City. Both away from home and both have a distinctive challenge of their own for the Reds to tackle and hopefully, we get a positive result from both these games.
Injuries have plagued the Reds throughout the campaign, with key players missing crucial games. However, with players returning to fitness, Liverpool could finally see the benefits of a fully fit squad.
In a league as competitive as the Premier League, every game is a battle, and having a full-strength squad gives us the best chance of coming out on top. As we enter the final stretch of the season, we need all hands on deck to secure our place in the top four and achieve our objectives.
