Liverpool will seek summer move for Celta Vigo star Gabri Veiga
Liverpool are keeping a close eye on Celta Vigo’s attacking midfielder, Gabri Veiga, according to sources at ESPN via Liverpool Echo. The 20-year-old has been in impressive form this season in La Liga, scoring eight goals and three assists in 28 appearances across all competitions, attracting the attention of several European clubs.
It’s not just Liverpool who show interest in the talented Spaniard, as Manchester United, Newcastle, AC Milan, and Napoli are all said to be monitoring his progress. In fact, Leeds and Bournemouth even made attempts to sign him back in January but were unable to do so.
Despite rumours of interest from Real Madrid, Veiga’s release clause in his contract is believed to be €40m. This has not deterred Liverpool, who have “commissioned reports on both his sporting and personal life”. The Reds clearly see the youngster as a player who could add depth and quality to their squad.
With Spain’s forthcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers approaching, Veiga could make the squad for the same. This could increase his value even further, making it crucial for Liverpool to act quickly if they want to secure his signature.
Veiga to the Reds
Veiga’s attacking prowess has been one of the main reasons behind Celta Vigo’s impressive season so far. His ability to create and score goals from midfield has caught the attention of some of the biggest clubs in Europe.
At just 20 years old, he has a bright future ahead of him, and Liverpool will be hoping to make him a part of their future plans. There is no hiding from the fact that the Reds certainly need midfield recruitments, and Veiga could prove to be a good solid investment.
For Liverpool, the addition of Veiga could bring a new dimension to their midfield. His ability to create chances and score goals would be a valuable asset to the team. However, they will need to act quickly and decisively if they want to secure his signature, with competition from other top clubs.
His contract at the club lasts until 2026 (Transfermarkt), and amid links with so many clubs, if the interest is real, the Reds need to move as soon as possible to get the player on board and hopefully, he shines if he comes over to Merseyside.
