Exit-bound Roberto Firmino wants to stay in Europe despite MLS and Saudi interest
According to Football Insider (h/t Liverpool Echo), exit-bound Liverpool ace Roberto Firmino wants to stay in Europe beyond this season despite interest from clubs in the MLS and Saudi Arabia.
It was confirmed earlier this month that the Brazilian had made the decision to Liverpool at the end of the current campaign when he will see his contract run down. However, where he will go next is not really clear.
Firmino has spent eight glorious years at Anfield and was one of the pillars of the Champions League and Premier League winning teams of 2018/19 and 2019/20 campaigns. However, he has seen his prominence decrease in recent times.
At 31, Firmino has a lot of gas left in him to still continue playing at the top level. It is not a surprise that he wants to stay in Europe and remain competitive despite much more lucrative offers from elsewhere.
What a great servant!
Manchester City manager very infamously said after Sergio Aguero’s last game in a Manchester City shirt – “We cannot replace him.” He has since gone on to sign Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez who have replaced Aguero unbelievably well.
However, if there is one Liverpool player who is almost impossible to replace, it has to be Bobby Firmino. A forward like no other, it will be a huge shock if we find another all-rounded striker like the Brazilian.
Throughout his Liverpool career, Firmino has been about much more than just goals. There is absolutely no doubt that the forward’s selfless play was one of the main reasons why Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah thrived so much in terms of attacking output.
Yes, we have Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota at the club. They are very different players to Firmino and as a matter of fact, from one another as well. We will have to adapt and build the team around them.

Firmino has given us some great memories in a Liverpool shirt. He has been a great servant for the club who has gone about his business without much of a fuss. He is an Anfield legend and we must be eternally grateful to him and wish him the very best going forward.
