LFC Transfer News: Liverpool and Barcelona among clubs ‘scouting’ Wolfsburg’s Micky van de Ven

BILD journalist Christian Falk has claimed that Liverpool and Barcelona are among the clubs that are keeping an eye on Wolfsburg centre-back Micky van de Ven.

He mentions that the player is on a contract that doesn’t expire before the end of the 2026-27 season and has no release clause. Writing exclusively on CaughtOffside, Falk stated:

“The player is talented and very fast for a centre-back – 35.9km per hour; that’s really quick for such a player. He has a contract until 2027 and no release clause but Wolfsburg would be prepared to talk if they received an offer of €30m.

“The player himself has said he has no problem with staying another year but has also mentioned he’s open for a switch to Spain and the Premier League. So he’s already thinking about his future. Many clubs are scouting him at the moment, it’s a really long list; Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal, Barcelona, Inter Milan, Juventus, Roma, AC Milan… so you see, he’s a very attractive option.”

Inter Milan, Manchester City, Arsenal, Juventus, AC Milan and AS Roma have also been named by the journo as teams holding an interest in the 21-year-old centre-back who has recently emerged on the scene.

One for the future

He’s quick and he is 1.93 meters tall. To add to that, he is very young and already playing senior football in the Bundesliga. Of course there are top clubs after him.

It doesn’t matter if Liverpool have four quality centre-backs right now. Players like Van de Ven are always in fashion. They can help a team plan their backline for a decade to come.

Wolfsburg really seem to have a gem in their hands but as Falk stated above, this could be early days in the pursuit of the Netherlands U21 international. He has already played in 28 games in all competitions this season.

More Liverpool News

The teams mentioned above can all use new centre-backs for the future. Liverpool are no exception with Joel Matip and Virgil van Dijk in their 30s. Perhaps the Dutch captain can put in a good word about the club. He will have two Dutchmen here if he joins the club, with Cody Gakpo joining our ranks this January.
