Liverpool superstar Andy Robertson was at his usual self on National Duty for Scotland against Cyprus on 25th March in the EURO Qualification Group A Round 1 fixture as he got a brace of assists as the captain led his side to a 3-0 win. Meanwhile, Curtis Jones was bright against France U21 for the English age group side as well, scoring a goal in the 4-0 win.
While Robertson and his top form is not a shocker, it was refreshing to see Jones shine for The Three Lions after the player saw himself out of the Liverpool squad for an extended period of time due to an injury and has struggled for game-time since his return from the layoff.
Notably, Jones’ Liverpool mate Harvey Elliott started the game against the Frenchmen as well. Hopefully, Curtis’ performances for the national team ensure that Jurgen Klopp trusts him more in games for the Reds and gives him the chance to showcase his talent in the 12 league games left this season.
Liverpool fans will certainly be delighted to see their players performing well on the international stage. Robertson and Jones are essential members of Klopp’s squad, and their contributions for their respective national teams will certainly give them a boost of confidence ahead of the crucial final stretch of the Premier League season.
With Liverpool still in the hunt for a top-four finish and a place in next season’s Champions League, the performances of their star players will be crucial in the coming weeks.
Besides, the boss will be hoping that they can carry their form into the remaining fixtures of the season and help the club achieve their goals. With their players firing on all cylinders, the Merseysiders’ fans will be optimistic about their team’s chances of success.
Jones’ goal was a result of his ability to find space in the opposition’s defence and finish with composure. His technical ability and confidence on the ball are obviously the key attributes that make him such an exciting prospect for Liverpool and England.
Unfortunately, the player has not been able to find the right consistency at the Reds. When he finds that, he will certainly be a great player for the club with his flair and composure on the ball.
And as far as Robbo is concerned, his performance was probably just what one would expect from him. He has been world-class for almost forever now, and there is still a lot that Robbo has got in him to show for.
