Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp confirms Luis Diaz absence from Manchester City game
Even though Luis Diaz returned to team training last week after his injury layoff, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp confirmed that the player will not take part in the game against Manchester City on April 1 as it is still early doors for him.
Diaz’s absence will be a significant blow for the Reds, as he was among their best players before his injury in October. The Colombian international made an impressive start to this season, scoring four goals and providing three assists in just 12 appearances for the club.
Despite his absence, Liverpool will look to put up a strong performance against a tough Manchester City side. The Reds have obviously had a challenging start to the season and currently find themselves in sixth position on the league table, 27 points behind the league leaders, Arsenal. A win against City would be a huge boost for their hopes of finishing in any of the Champions League spots at the end of the season.

Klopp: "Luis back in small parts of team training after a long time out. Fantastic to have him back but he won't train with us today. This week was a first step. Next week I think we will increase it and then he's ready." #LFC

Lucho back in training
Liverpool fans will eagerly await Diaz’s return to full fitness. Klopp has said that this week was a first step in his recovery, and he hopes to increase his training in the coming weeks. The Colombian forward’s return would certainly add a new dimension to Liverpool’s attack and provide the team with a much-needed boost as they look to climb up the table.
Liverpool obviously stands hit hard by injuries this season, with several key players missing significant portions of the campaign. Klopp will be hoping that his squad can step up and deliver in Diaz’s absence.
Nevertheless, Klopp would hope that in Lucho’s absence, either Darwin Nunez or Cody Gakpo can get the Reds going well. Moreover, with Diogo Jota in the thick of things as well, the game could go anywhere.
But in any case, Diaz’s return to full fitness will be crucial to Liverpool’s hopes of a strong finish to the season, and his presence in the team will provide a much-needed boost to the squad.
