Transfer News: Liverpool showing great interest in signing 26-year-old Serie A defender

Liverpool show great interest in Napoli centre-back Kim-Min Jae

Liverpool FC’s search for a centre-back continues as reports from Foot Mercato via ECHO suggest that the Reds are showing great interest in signing Napoli defender Kim Min-Jae. The 26-year-old has been in excellent form for the Italian side, who are currently on course to win the Serie A title.

Liverpool’s need for a centre-back is well-known, with the form of Joel Matip, Joe Gomez, and Virgil van Dijk forcing the Reds to look for new signings. Max Kilman and Josko Gvardiol are also among those who see themselves linked with moves to Anfield, but Min-Jae has emerged as a possible target for Liverpool.

The South Korean has been one of Napoli’s standout performers this season, helping the club challenge for the Serie A title and reaching the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League with a great chance to get to the finals as well. His performances have obviously not gone unnoticed, with Liverpool reportedly showing a keen interest in the player.

It is clear that Liverpool needs to add defensive reinforcements, especially with the likes of Matip and Gomez struggling with injuries and form, throughout the season. It is clear that Jurgen Klopp would want to add quality to his backline.

Defence reinforcements necessary for the Reds

However, the fact that Napoli is unwilling to speak to any club until the end of the season could be a potential obstacle for Liverpool. Nonetheless, the Reds will certainly hope that they can get a deal through for Kim in the summer, with the player potentially being a key addition to their squad.

Liverpool have shown that they are willing to invest in their squad when necessary, as seen in the signings of Alisson Becker, Fabinho, and Thiago Alcantara. Min-Jae could be the latest addition to Liverpool’s talented squad, and his arrival would certainly boost the club’s chances of competing for silverware next season.

It remains to be seen if Liverpool can convince Napoli to part ways with Min-jae, but it is clear that the Reds are actively looking for defensive reinforcements.
