Liverpool still retain interest in French midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni
Liverpool still show interest in signing Real Madrid’s Aurelien Tchouameni, despite missing out on the French midfielder in the summer of 2022 (h/t football.london). Tchouameni moved from Monaco to Real Madrid for a fee of €80m upfront, but Liverpool have retained their interest in the talented midfielder.
The 23-year-old has been on Liverpool’s radar for some time, with the Reds looking to bolster their midfield options. The Frenchman’s performances for Monaco caught the eye of several top European clubs, including Liverpool, who were reportedly keen to bring him to Anfield last summer as well.
However, Real Madrid won the race for Tchouameni’s signature last summer, leaving Liverpool to look elsewhere for midfield reinforcements. Despite this setback, Liverpool are still monitoring Tchouameni’s progress at Real Madrid, with a view to potentially making a move for him in the future.
Liverpool are not the only club that show interest in Tchouameni, however. Arsenal, Manchester United, and Paris Saint-Germain are also keeping an eye on the midfielder’s situation at Real Madrid.
Could Tchouameni still move to Merseyside?
Moreover, Los Blancos would listen to deals around £62m for Tchouameni. This amount is significantly lower than what they coughed up for him not even a year ago. Liverpool’s interest in Tchouameni is understandable, given the midfielder’s impressive performances for Monaco. The Frenchman is a versatile player who can operate in a number of different midfield roles, making him a valuable asset for any team.
Tchouameni’s physicality and technical ability make him a formidable presence in midfield, and he has been compared to former Manchester United midfielder Patrick Vieira. Liverpool are looking for a player who can add some steel to their midfield, and Tchouameni fits the bill perfectly.
Despite missing out on Tchouameni last summer, Liverpool have not been deterred in their pursuit of the midfielder. The Reds are keeping a close eye on his development at Real and could make a move for him in the future if the opportunity arises.
The competition for Tchouameni’s signature is likely to be intense, with multiple clubs earlier mentioned all keen on the midfielder. However, Liverpool have shown in the past that they are able to attract and sign top talent, and they will be hoping to do the same with Tchouameni.

Of course, much will depend on Tchouameni’s performances at Real Madrid. If the midfielder continues to impress in the Spanish capital, it could be difficult for Liverpool to pry him away. However, if the opportunity arises, Liverpool will be ready to make their move.
