Jurgen Klopp talks about Luis Diaz return ahead of Leeds United vs Liverpool
Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of the league fixture against Leeds United, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp spoke about the imminent return of Luis Diaz to the matchday squad after the player saw himself out of action following a knee injury against Arsenal in early October.
There is absolutely no doubt that Liverpool have missed Lucho, and dearly. He was easily among the Reds’ best players in the initial few weeks of the season. In 12 appearances across all competitions this season, Diaz has four goals and three assists.
Lucho was extremely close to returning to the squad at the mid-season training camp in Dubai during the World Cup. However, he returned back to Merseyside following a recurrence of the injury on just the first day of the camp in the Middle East.
Here is what Klopp had to say on Diaz and his return to fitness via the ECHO:
“He is 100% ready in training. He is completely ready, now we have to reintegrate. He will be in the squad, unless something happens.”
The intensity he shows on the pitch, his relentlessness to make forward runs in possession, and his top-class pressing abilities when not in possession is something the Reds have dearly missed out on ever since Diaz saw himself sidelined.
Moreover, Klopp earlier noted that Diaz was in team training before the match against Arsenal as well. Extremely smart to not get him involved in the game as risking it wouldn’t have been ideal by any means.
With not a lot of games left in the season, Klopp would hope that the Reds give their all in this final stretch of the season and get as many wins as possible to secure for themselves a spot in the top four and the UCL next season.

Diaz will remain extremely crucial in this final push for the Reds, and hopefully, he gets a few goals and assists towards the end of the campaign, so that there remains something worth remembering for him from this campaign apart from his injury.
