Manchester United to challenge Liverpool for French ace worth over €100m

Manchester United join the race to sign Liverpool target Randal Kolo Muani

According to Bild (h/t Liverpool Echo), Manchester United have a concrete interest in Eintracht Frankfurt striker Randal Kolo Muani, who is a Liverpool target.

The report reveals that several offers are expected for the French international during the summer transfer window. Frankfurt want in excess of €100m for a striker whose contract with the German club runs until the summer of 2027 (Transfermarkt).

While Kolo Muani is an excellent striker who has had a great season in the Bundesliga (12 goals and 12 assists in 26 games), Liverpool might have their priorities elsewhere in the summer window.

The forward line is one department where the Reds have spent money in the last three windows. They got Luis Diaz last January, signed Darwin Nunez last summer and added Cody Gakpo to the mix at the turn of this year.

After pulling out of the race to sign Jude Bellingham in the summer, the pressure is ramped up on the club to sign good midfielders.

Among the players linked are Moises Caicedo and Alexis Mac Allister of Brighton, Nicolo Barella of Inter Milan, Mason Mount and Conor Gallagher of Chelsea and Matheus Nunes of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Liverpool must do well in the coming window to have the squad ready to challenge for the title. Missing out on the Champions League for potentially one season should not alter the finances much because the owners haven’t spent much even when we were winning in the last four years.
